ideal base for exploring draflastathir. we loved hotel's location and views. not far from the downtown, 5 minutes on foot. receptionist is the best ever! furthermore, we left our car in the free parking.

Staff was nice and we loved our stay. A kitchen was a big plus. When we arrived the host was friendly. Very easy to get from Akureyri airport, just 16 miles. In addition, free Wi-Fi was useful.

Loved the hot pot outside, we enjoyed long minutes in its warm water in the cold Icelandic evening...

Remote location well worth the drive. Scenic expanse overlooking a river valley. Family operation on a working farm. Clean and comfortable!

The Draflastadir Guesthouse was the top accommodation that I have personally enjoyed during my 14-day travels in Iceland. Absolutely highly recommended. The location is stunning beautiful, remote, and peaceful, and the staff were attentive and very kind. I would describe Draflastadir as a sanctuary completely outside the usual tourist run of facilities available in Iceland. It's closer to being a guest on a working farm. Check out the family church on site, and of course the hot tub.

The staff was friendly, helpful and our rooms were super. It is a rather new place and still needs some fixing... but it is a gem already!

A nice clean family room, we slept well and enjoyed the breakfast in the morning. The farm is remote and great for a quiet stay. We went into Akureyri for dinner.
The bathrooms were still not completed and there was a lot of hair in the drain which was rather off-putting. It would have been nice to have had a kettle and fridge in our room to be able to make tea in the morning and to keep our fresh goods in the fridge.
